Volunteers with Heart...

The volunteers who come to LightBridge Hospice provide a service beyond
measure to our patients. They come in a variety of ages and ethnicities but
theyshare something in common; an open heart. The volunteers form unique
bonds withour patients by opening their hearts to become caring and
compassionate friends. They sit with patients and hold their hands, read
to them, laugh and cry with them, listen to their stories, ease their fears,
and help to make their final wishes come true.

Testimonials

“Volunteering for LightBridge Hospice has been an amazing experience.
My goal as a volunteer was to enrich another person's life, it is truly amazing
how much more enriched my life has become. After visiting with my Hospice
friend, I always leave feeling better than when I arrived. This has given me a
lot of personal gratification. When we give of ourselves, we truly give.”

“ I really look forward to the time spent with the lovely lady I visit. It is
wonderful to see her big smile when she sees me arrive. We share feelings
and memories and have had many nice times. I can honestly say my experience
as a LightBridge Hospice volunteer has been a most rewarding one.”

“I thank LightBridge Hospice for the opportunity of a lifetime. Holding hands with
someone, exchanging energy in such an amazing and sacred time, has opened
my eyes to a whole different life perspective.”

“Volunteering for Hospice is my way of serving others. I like human interaction
set in the context of the end of life where people are often more open and real.
Everyone has a story to tell and a soul to recognize. I am enriched by the
experience and believe the families and patients are as well. ”

We Value Our
Volunteers

Our patients and their families
benefit greatly from having a
volunteer visit on a regular basis,
but the rewards of volunteering
are not solely for the LightBridge
Hospice patients we serve.

For volunteers striving to
make a difference in the lives
ofothers, the reward of forming
a relationship with someone as
they near the end of their life
is inspiring and can be transformational.

Often the reward is as simple
and meaningful as a smile or
a squeeze of the hand... words
of wisdom are spoken and
gestures of gratitude are offered.
Sometimes volunteers take
comfort in simply knowing they
were present for someone. The
experiences are as unique as
every individual and relationship.

Hospice volunteering gives
perspective and meaning to
thosewho are drawn to this
service. The dedication of the
LightBridge Hospice volunteers
enables us to better serve the
needs of our patients and their
families. We could not do what
we do so well without them.
